As I’ve become more comfortable with the capabilities of my 3D printer I’ve increased to complexity of the objects I print. A few examples from the past month or so. About half are of my design and half are downloads from Thingiverse.com. Thus far I’ve really enjoyed working in this area.
Gears and gearboxes
Toys and board game pieces
New parts for my 3D printer
Misc: pen cup and carabiner (printed out of flexible nylon rather than rigid ABS)
We are in the midst of a rainy spell which means we don’t have much power and thus don’t get to do much cooking. It was just sunny enough yesterday for me to make dinner. Bao with sesame peanut noodles and green beans. Today looks like it will be freeze dried camping food since we haven’t gotten any real sun all day.

Nice variety of parts from the printer! I wonder how far this technology will go, it seems you could almost eliminate machinists….hmm. On that note, I’m working on my Haas mill to get it back up and running. It’s mechanically fine, just seems to have a processor problem, ack.

Hey Zak – I’ve got a client who is now making conductive PLA fiber. This probably isn’t useful information for you right now, even if you have a dual head printer, but I thought you’d get a kick out of it….you can make working circuit boards on the printer! Perhaps something you can bookmark now and take on your next trip off-planet.

Very cool, I will definitely look into it when I get out. I’m already plotting my printer upgrade since the one I bought is sadly not a dual extruder (which is among the improvements I’d like in my next one).
