Spent yesterday massacring marshmallow peeps and hanging out with a thousand 5th graders building Mars habitats.
The public schools here do a district-wide Mission to Mars project. I visited a handful of schools beforehand to talk about HI-SEAS, Mars and STEM. They gave me a table at the convention center to set up a couple demos during their culminating event. I bought a bunch of photos from HI-SEAS, my 3D printer with a number of printed parts and the atmospheric/air pressure demo I’ve been giving. The peeps died for the noble cause of helping school children understand atmospheric pressure. I also boiled water at room temperature which always seems to blow minds (and not just for 5th graders).
